Hamilton Crashes in Monaco Practice, Leaves Ferrari Scrambling Before Qualifying
Lewis Hamilton gave his Ferrari crew an unexpected challenge ahead of qualifying at the Monaco Grand Prix after crashing heavily during the final moments of FP3.
The seven-time world champion clipped the barriers at Massenet on his last flying lap, triggering a red flag and bringing final practice to an early close. His SF-25 sustained notable damage on the right-hand side, particularly to the front-right tyre, before rolling to a stop near Casino Square.
“Sorry guys. I’ve hit the wall,” Hamilton reported calmly over the team radio.
The crash means Ferrari’s mechanics will be working overtime through the lunch break to repair the car in time for qualifying—a major setback for Hamilton, who was fifth quickest in the session. He trailed his teammate Charles Leclerc by six-tenths, with the Monegasque driver topping the timesheets.
With qualifying just around the corner, all eyes will be on whether Ferrari can get Hamilton’s car back in shape for a crucial grid battle on the streets of Monte Carlo.
