HISTORIC Hamilton-Newey team up set for Las Vegas Grand Prix appearance

Lewis Hamilton’s final appearances as a Mercedes driver are set to coincide with a unique Formula 1 auction at the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix.

An iconic F1 car that Hamilton once drove is being put on the market, marking a rare opportunity for fans and collectors to own a piece of his legacy.

Hamilton, now 39, has only three races left with the Brackley-based team before he departs for Ferrari next season.

The British racing legend, who has endured several challenging seasons with Mercedes, signed a deal to join Ferrari in hopes that a fresh start will revitalize his pursuit of an eighth world championship title.

Earlier this season, Hamilton had aspirations of concluding his Mercedes tenure on a high note.

His season took a promising turn with unexpected victories at Silverstone and Spa before the summer break, sparking speculation that he could make a surprising bid for the championship.

However, his form has since dropped, and frustrations have been evident as he attempts to compete at the highest level.

As Hamilton looks to his future, F1 fans are being presented with a chance to own a piece of his past.

An F1 car with deep historical significance is heading to auction, allowing enthusiasts to invest in a vehicle tied to Hamilton’s early career.

This car, a McLaren-Mercedes MP4-21 from 2006, was the first F1 vehicle Hamilton drove as part of a testing session for McLaren after his GP2 victory that same year.

Just a year later, he would officially join McLaren as a full-time driver, embarking on a career that would see him become one of the sport’s most celebrated figures.

Designed by legendary engineer Adrian Newey, the MP4-21 marks a one-time collaboration between Newey and Hamilton, as the famed designer later joined Red Bull, where he would achieve major successes.

Hamilton’s test with the MP4-21 thus remains a significant part of both his and Newey’s F1 legacies.

Restored by McLaren Racing Heritage in 2019, the vehicle is now ready to be auctioned during the Las Vegas GP weekend.

RM Sotheby’s is handling the auction, with the starting bid expected to range between £2.2 million and £2.7 million.

This sale represents a unique opportunity for F1 enthusiasts and Hamilton fans to acquire a remarkable artifact from the driver’s formative years.

As Hamilton prepares for a new chapter with Ferrari, this iconic car symbolizes his journey from rising talent to global superstar, bridging his past achievements with his future ambitions in the sport.

The timing of the auction, coinciding with the Las Vegas Grand Prix, adds to the excitement surrounding Hamilton’s final moments with Mercedes before embarking on his next adventure in F1.
