Breaking:McLaren Star Provides Clarification on A…Read more

McLaren Star Provides Clarification Miami – May 10, 2025 — McLaren’s lead driver, Lando Norris, has publicly addressed recent reports linking him to the upcoming Cadillac Formula 1 project, providing a clear statement to dispel speculation surrounding alleged contact with the American manufacturer.

Rumors began circulating earlier this week after a U.S.-based motorsport outlet suggested that representatives from the Andretti-Cadillac F1 initiative had approached Norris during the Miami Grand Prix weekend. The article implied that preliminary discussions had taken place regarding a potential future collaboration, fueling widespread speculation across the F1 paddock.

In response, Norris directly addressed the claims during a post-race media briefing, stating, “There have been no discussions between myself and Cadillac, nor any of their representatives. I’m fully committed to McLaren, and any suggestions otherwise are completely unfounded.”

The clarification comes at a time when Norris’ performances have attracted increased attention across the grid. With McLaren showing significant improvements in pace this season and Norris emerging as a consistent podium contender, other teams have naturally begun eyeing him as a potential long-term asset. However, Norris remains under contract with McLaren through 2027, and both he and the team have reiterated their long-term commitment to each other.

Cadillac, currently working with Andretti Global on a prospective F1 entry, has been linked with several drivers as part of its long-term strategic planning. While their entry is still pending full FIA approval, the team has expressed interest in securing a competitive driver lineup should they receive the green light to join the grid by 2026.

A spokesperson for Cadillac F1 issued a brief comment denying any formal approach to Norris but acknowledged ongoing assessments of available talent across the field.

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella backed Norris’ statement, calling the reports “pure speculation” and reaffirming that the British driver is “integral to the future of McLaren’s F1 program.”

As the driver market begins to heat up ahead of the 2026 regulation changes, Norris’ name will likely remain a point of discussion. However, for now, the McLaren camp has shut down any suggestions of contact with Cadillac, maintaining full focus on the current season’s championship battle.
