Red Bull Racing has confirmed that Yuki Tsunoda is uninjured following a terrifying crash during qualifying for the 2025 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola. The incident occurred early in Q1 when Tsunoda lost control of his RB21 at the Villeneuve chicane, causing the car to flip multiple times before coming to rest upright in the gravel. Despite the severity of the crash, Tsunoda exited the car unaided and was taken to the circuit’s medical center for precautionary checks. He was subsequently released, with Red Bull stating, “Thankfully, Yuki has been checked and released from the medical centre after undergoing precautionary checks” .
The crash caused significant damage to Tsunoda’s car, with all four corners affected, leaving the Red Bull mechanics with extensive overnight repairs ahead of Sunday’s race . Tsunoda, who recently replaced Liam Lawson at Red Bull, expressed deep frustration over the incident, admitting it was a “stupid mistake” and taking full responsibility. He acknowledged pushing too hard early in the session without fully understanding the car’s behavior after recent setup changes .
