BREAKING:Sebastian Vettel Reveals Exchange with Max Verstappen Over…read more
Though retired from Formula 1, four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel remains connected with the sport and its current stars especially Max Verstappen. The German has revealed that he was in regular contact with Verstappen during the Dutchman’s record-breaking 2023 season, where he set a new benchmark for consecutive race wins.
Vettel and Verstappen’s Conversations on the Record
Verstappen dominated the 2023 F1 season, securing his third world title with Red Bull by winning 19 of 22 races. Along the way, he shattered Vettel’s long-standing record for consecutive race victories, achieving 10 straight wins between the Miami and Italian Grands Prix.
Vettel, who previously held the record with nine wins in a row during his 2013 championship-winning season, recalled their conversations as Verstappen closed in on history.
“I was in contact with him when he was on the brink of breaking the record with the most wins in a row,” Vettel told *BBC Sportsworld
“I was at nine, then he equaled it, and I told him, ‘You’re better than me. I’m sure you’ll pip me.’ He said, ‘I’m not sure, I’m not sure.’ “And then he did 10.”
Can Verstappen Overcome His Tough Start in 2025?
While Verstappen was unstoppable in 2023, the current 2025 season has been more challenging for Red Bull. McLaren has emerged as the team to beat, leaving Verstappen with an uphill battle to defend his title.
Despite Red Bull’s early struggles, Vettel remains confident in Verstappen’s ability to fight back. “I’m pretty sure he can do it. If anyone can, he can, especially with the championships in Red Bull,” Vettel added. “We will see. But to me, at this stage, it’s just exciting to watch.”
With the title race shaping up to be more competitive than previous seasons, Verstappen will need to dig deep if he wants to reclaim his dominance. As Vettel watches on from the sidelines, the Dutchman will hope to prove once again why he’s considered one of the best drivers in F1 history.
