BREAKING:Toto Wolff Ends Speculation on Max Verstappen Amid…read more

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has put an end to speculation regarding a potential move for Max Verstappen, signaling that he is no longer pursuing the reigning Formula 1 champion. For months, rumors have swirled about Verstappen’s future at Red Bull, with Wolff openly expressing interest in the Dutch driver amid internal tensions at Red Bull Racing. However, Wolff has now clarified his stance, suggesting that Mercedes will not actively chase Verstappen any longer.

Speaking to the media, Wolff admitted that while any team would want a driver of Verstappen’s caliber, Mercedes is focused on developing its own lineup. “At some point, you have to stop speculating and concentrate on what we have. Max is an incredible driver, but he is contracted to Red Bull, and we respect that,” Wolff stated.

The decision comes as Mercedes faces a transitional period following Lewis Hamilton’s impending departure to Ferrari in 2025. With a vacant seat alongside George Russell, the team has been evaluating multiple options, including Carlos Sainz, Fernando Alonso, and young talents from their junior program. While Verstappen’s future remains uncertain due to Red Bull’s ongoing internal power struggles, he is still under contract until 2028.

Red Bull boss Christian Horner has repeatedly insisted that Verstappen is committed to the team, despite reports of discontent within the organization. With Wolff now stepping back from the speculation, it appears Mercedes will look elsewhere to find Hamilton’s replacement.

As the 2025 driver market heats up, all eyes remain on Verstappen and Red Bull. However, for now, Mercedes seems to have moved on, shifting its focus toward building a competitive future without the three-time world champion.
