Max Verstappen has expressed strong disapproval of the FIA’s recent changes to impeding regulations during qualifying sessions, labeling the new rules as “absolutely terrible.” The reigning world champion’s comments come amid ongoing debates about the consistency and fairness of Formula 1’s regulatory decisions.
The controversy centers around the FIA’s updated directive aimed at preventing drivers from stopping at the pit exit to create gaps during qualifying. While the intention was to enhance safety and reduce traffic congestion, Verstappen argues that the new rule has led to more confusion and potential hazards on the track.
“It was absolutely terrible,” Verstappen stated, referring to the revised regulations. He highlighted instances where drivers were forced to navigate through congested pit lanes, sometimes even veering onto the grass, to avoid impeding others.
