Burnley manager pleased as player’s goal propels team to first EPL victory.
Lyle Foster of Burnley celebrates his team’s opening goal during Tuesday night’s Premier League victory over Luton Town at Kenilworth Road in Luton.
Lyle Foster scored the first goal upon his return from suspension, giving Burnley their much-needed first victory of the English Premier League season, 2-1 over Luton Town, while his manager Vincent Kompany gushed about his importance.
Following his red card in Burnley’s 1-1 league tie with Nottingham Forest on September 18, Foster served a three-game suspension before serving it again. He made the opening score two minutes into the first half’s extra time.
Sander Berge overtook Foster through the center, allowing him to finish with a cool low finish to signal his comeback. The young Orlando Pirates player was on strike three for the season.
It was an extremely challenging game. We played well in the first half before Luton came out and put us under pressure. They managed to score the goal they desired, but I’m simply glad we ultimately prevailed.
