CHELSEA NEEDS A STRIKER LIKE OSIMHEN,BUT……………………………..
The highly anticipated transfer of Victor Osimhen from Napoli to Chelsea has collapsed after intense negotiations failed to reach an agreement before the summer transfer deadline. Chelsea had been eager to secure the Nigerian striker, who has been one of the most sought-after players in the European market, but the deal ultimately fell through due to financial disagreements and wage issues.
Osimhen, who currently earns €10 million per year at Napoli, had been linked with a move to several top European clubs throughout the summer, with Chelsea emerging as a serious contender. The Premier League club reportedly made several proposals, but they were unable to meet Napoli’s high demands. Napoli had placed a hefty price tag of around €130 million on Osimhen, a figure that scared off many suitors, including Chelsea, who were unwilling to meet this valuation. Additionally, the salary offered by Chelsea was significantly lower than what Osimhen currently earns, which further complicated negotiations.
Chelsea’s wage structure, which is based on offering relatively lower base salaries with long-term contracts, was a sticking point in the discussions. Osimhen was reportedly unwilling to accept a pay cut, especially when he had already agreed to personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the summer, only for that deal to fall through due to Napoli’s demands. Chelsea’s final offer included a base salary of €4 million per season, with additional bonuses tied to Champions League qualification and appearances. However, this offer was far from what Osimhen was expecting, leading to the breakdown of negotiations
Meanwhile, Napoli had also been in advanced talks with Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli, who were prepared to offer Osimhen a lucrative deal worth €30 million per season. However, this deal also collapsed due to disagreements over the transfer fee. Napoli had agreed on a fee of €80 million with Al-Ahli, but negotiations stalled when Napoli demanded an additional €5 million in bonuses, which Al-Ahli was unwilling to pay.
The collapse of these deals has left Osimhen in a precarious position. His relationship with Napoli’s management, particularly with head coach Antonio Conte, has reportedly deteriorated. Conte and Osimhen are said to be at odds, and with the transfer window closed, Osimhen could find himself sidelined from Napoli’s first team. This situation is further complicated by Napoli’s financial position; they are now faced with the prospect of paying Osimhen’s substantial salary without utilizing him on the pitch.
The failed transfer is a significant blow to Napoli, who were hoping to cash in on Osimhen while his market value was at its peak. The club will now have to navigate the challenge of reintegrating Osimhen into the squad or risk further tension within the team. If no last-minute transfer to Saudi Arabia or another league materializes, Osimhen could be left in limbo until the January transfer window, with limited options for regular playing time.
