Christian Horner Makes Surprising Comment on Potential Ferrari Star Signing
Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner has made a rather unexpected remark concerning a possible signing of one of Ferrari’s leading Formula 1 drivers, stirring interest among fans and media alike.
Horner was recently in Melbourne for the opening race of the 2025 Formula 1 season, which kicked off in dramatic fashion at the renowned Albert Park Circuit. The race was marked by chaos and unpredictable conditions, testing the drivers’ skills to the limit.
Defending world champion Max Verstappen managed to secure second place, finishing just behind his primary title rival, Lando Norris. Only 14 drivers crossed the finish line on what turned out to be a turbulent and eventful day, further emphasizing the unpredictable nature of the race weekend.
However, it was a disappointing debut for Verstappen’s new Red Bull teammate, Liam Lawson, who struggled throughout the weekend. The young Kiwi driver was unable to progress beyond Q1 in Saturday’s qualifying session and later spun out during the final stages of Sunday’s race. Lawson, 23, had recently been promoted to the senior Red Bull team, replacing Sergio Perez, following an impressive stint at Racing Bulls (formerly known as VCARB) during the latter half of the previous season.
Despite Lawson’s rocky start, Red Bull remains focused on regaining the constructors’ championship title, which they lost to McLaren in the 2024 season. Horner expressed confidence in his team’s ability to challenge for the top spot once again, although he acknowledged the fierce competition posed by both McLaren and Ferrari this year.
Ferrari, in particular, has strengthened their lineup considerably by signing seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton during the off-season—a move that has further intensified the championship battle. Yet, it was Hamilton’s Ferrari teammate, Charles Leclerc, who unexpectedly became the topic of discussion during a light-hearted moment with content creator Bella James.
When asked in a casual interview to name the most handsome driver on the F1 grid, Horner initially appeared caught off guard by the unexpected question. However, he responded with a charming anecdote.
“My daughter would love us to sign Charles Leclerc,” Horner said with a smile, implying that the Ferrari star has quite the fanbase even within his own household. He added humorously, “They’ve all got charm,” referring to the collective charisma of the F1 drivers.
Although Horner’s remark was made in a playful context, it has fueled speculation and conversation among fans, especially considering Red Bull’s ever-evolving driver lineup and the growing competitiveness in the paddock. While a potential Leclerc signing is purely hypothetical at this point, it underscores the Monegasque driver’s popularity and the admiration he commands across teams and fans alike.
As the season unfolds, all eyes will be on how Lawson adapts to his new role, whether Verstappen can defend his title, and how the battles between Red Bull, Ferrari, and McLaren will shape the path to the 2025 championship. Horner, known for his candid and sometimes unexpected remarks, has once again added a splash of intrigue to the F1 narrative.
