Kwon joins Hibs as Celtic midfielder completes season-long loan… Read More ๐Ÿ‘‡

Celtic midfielder Kwon Hyeok-kyu has joined Hibernian on a season-long loan, as confirmed by the Edinburgh club. Football Scotland initially reported that Hibs were close to finalizing the deal with Celtic for the South Korean player’s services. Kwon, who moved to Celtic from Busan I-Park last summer, has found it difficult to break into Brendan Rodgers’ first-team plans.

The 23-year-old has yet to make a competitive appearance for the Scottish champions. However, Kwon gained valuable experience last season during a loan spell with St Mirren, where his dynamic performances quickly won over the club’s supporters. This new loan move to Hibs will give him the opportunity to secure regular first-team football at Easter Road.

Hibernianโ€™s manager, David Gray, expressed his satisfaction with the signing, highlighting Kwon’s versatility in midfield. Gray noted that Kwon is capable of playing both as a defensive midfielder (a “6”) and a more advanced role (an “8”). He praised Kwon’s athleticism, competitiveness, and comfort on the ball, qualities that should benefit the team in the upcoming season.

Sporting Director Malky Mackay also commented on the transfer, emphasizing that Kwon is Hibs’ ninth signing of the summer. Mackay described Kwon as a top professional with a strong pedigree and praised his presence on the pitch. He also extended his gratitude to Brendan Rodgers and Celtic for their cooperation in facilitating the loan move swiftly and smoothly.

Overall, Kwonโ€™s arrival at Hibs is seen as a positive addition, providing the team with more options and depth in midfield as they prepare for the season ahead. The South Korean midfielder will be eager to make the most of this opportunity to establish himself in Scottish football.
