Another disappointing season is in the books for the Dallas Cowboys, who lost their chance to break their Super Bowl drought. The Cowboys were bounced out of the Wild Card round by the Green Bay Packers, setting up an important offseason for the franchise. The 2023 NFL season was arguably their best chance to make it back to the championship game because of the talent on both sides of the field, but their postseason woes came back to haunt them.

In spite of their premature departure, the organization remains well-positioned to recover in 2024.

Regarding their summer, one of the biggest concerns is what they will do with Dak Prescott, who had a strong second half of the season.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the Cowboys will try to sign Prescott to a big new contract.

Rapoport stated, via Kevin Gray Jr. on Twitter, “Cowboys and Dak Prescott are expected to have deal done before free agency that will make him one of the highest paid QBs in the NFL.”

Although there are those who doubt Prescott’s ability to lead Dallas past its current setback, Rapoport’s story seems to suggest that the team has faith in him moving ahead.

Prescott was among the league’s top quarterbacks and a strong contender for MVP.

Even though he isn’t as well-liked as some of his colleagues, the veteran has demonstrated that, when he gets the offense going, it can reach new heights.

Teams know they must pay a premium for a quality quarterback, so they won’t be surprised by the final figures on his contract.
