Despite leading the NFL in defense for the majority of the season, the Dallas Cowboys defense lost a dismal game against the Buffalo Bills after giving up 31 points.

The Cowboys were expected to win the NFC East and possibly secure the top seed in the NFC, but the game spoiled their chances of having a successful season.

But Micah Parsons, the team’s edge rusher, plays a big part in why the Cowboys are still among the best in the NFL.

Parsons is the front-runner to win Defensive Player of the Year after recording more than 12 sacks in a season for the third straight year.

Even still, Fox Sports pundit Skip Bayless doesn’t think Parson can live up to the high expectations placed on him by Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor, given that he has only had one sack in three games.

Perhaps he’s not physically strong enough, not big enough, or not strong enough, Bayless speculated. “Perhaps he’s just not awful enough.” Or perhaps I’ve been the one who overhyped and overrated him in the first place.

This is undoubtedly one of Bayless’s impulsive overreactions, which are well-known.

Even though Parsons hasn’t put up many impressive numbers lately, he is still among the NFL’s finest pure pass rushers.

According to ESPN, he still has the most pass rush wins and the highest pass rush victory rate and ranks first against double teams.

He is a constant threat to opposing offenses, and head coaches use him into their weekly game plans.

Calling Parsons overhyped is a bit premature, especially in light of his recent output and prospective DPOY win.
