The striker had two loan stints back in his home country of Spain, but this season he was given his chance to shine, making 20 appearances and scoring six goals in the Championship.

After star striker Wesley Moraes sustained a season-ending injury at the start of the month, Dean Smith’s Villa were in desperate need of reinforcements at the top of the pitch.

The Spaniard struggled to make an impression with the Swans despite being the club record signing for the Welsh team in 2016 after joining for £15.5 million from Atletico Madrid.

Clément Lenglet, a French international, has joined on loan to Aston Villa, the Premier League team announced on the microblogging site.

Lenglet will spend the 2023–2024 season as a loan player for Aston Villa. Seventy-five percent of the player’s pay is expected to be paid by the Premier League team, with the remaining 25 percent coming from Barcelona.

It was not able to push for a permanent move during the transfer talks, and Lenglet allegedly refused to take Barcelona’s offer of a letter of independence.

According to reports, the player would have been free to select his next club but would have forfeited all future wages from the Catalonian team if he had accepted the letter of release.

The Saudis’ offer was the only one that involved a permanent move.
