On Tuesday afternoon, the Buffalo Bills announced that defensive end Casey Toohill had signed a one-year contract.
After being selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Toohill joined with the Washington Commanders to complete his rookie season after being waived. Toohill recorded seven sacks, three fumble recoveries, and 78 total tackles during his four years in Washington.
In Week 10 of the 2022 season, Toohill beat the Philadelphia Eagles with a touchdown throw that he recovered from receiver DeVonta Smith’s botched lateral pass and ran into the end zone to seal the game.
The former Stanford Cardinal finished the previous season with a career-high five sacks, eight of which he started.
Washington’s 16 games played. After registering 11.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks in 2019, the San Diego native was named to the second team of the Pac-12.
A finalist at Stanford for the William V. Campbell Trophy, which goes to a student-athlete who “combines academic success, football performance, and exemplary leadership,” was also announced.
