Jota set for post Celtic transfer within days as Al-Ittihad hell comes to… Read More ๐
Portuguese winger Jota is on the verge of ending his troubled stint at Al-Ittihad by signing with another Saudi Arabian club, Al-Fateh, under the management of Slaven Bilic. This move is expected to be finalized within days, bringing an end to what has been a challenging year for the former Celtic star.
Jota made headlines a year ago when he departed Celtic in a ยฃ25 million transfer to Al-Ittihad, a deal that was lucrative both for the Scottish club and for the player, who secured a substantial salary. However, his time in the Saudi Pro League soon turned sour. Al-Ittihad, it seems, had miscalculated the number of foreign players they could register, exceeding the limit allowed. As a result, Jota was the one to be sidelined.
Despite these setbacks, Jota was eventually registered for the second half of the season, during which he made 16 league appearances and scored four goals. However, with the arrival of new manager Laurent Blanc, the decision was made to allow Jota to move on as the club seeks to reduce its number of foreign players.
Although Jota had been linked with potential moves to the Premier League and even a return to Celtic, it appears his next step will be a cross-division transfer within Saudi Arabia. Al-Fateh is reportedly ready to match his wages, ensuring the 25-year-old winger remains one of the top earners in the league.
This transfer marks the end of a turbulent chapter in Jotaโs career, as he looks to revive his form and make a fresh start under Bilicโs guidance.
