Karamoko Dembele, a former Celtic prodigy, has secured a loan move back to England, joining Queens Park Rangers (QPR) for the upcoming season. After an impressive stint in League One with Blackpool, where he showcased his talents, Dembele is now stepping up to the English Championship. The 21-year-old winger, currently contracted to French side Stade Brestois, was unveiled by QPR on a season-long loan deal, with the club referring to it as an “initial” loan, though no mention was made of an option to buy.
Dembele’s performance at Blackpool last season was nothing short of remarkable. He netted nine goals and provided 14 assists, earning him multiple player of the year awards at the club’s end-of-season ceremony. His standout displays naturally attracted attention from various clubs across England, but it was QPR who ultimately won the race to secure his services. Alongside Dembele, QPR also announced the signing of another loanee, Koki Saito.
Expressing his enthusiasm about the move, Dembele shared his thoughts with QPR’s official website. He said, “I am really excited. I have heard amazing things about it here and I just canโt wait to get started, to be honest.” He emphasized that the move presents a significant opportunity for him to continue progressing in his career. Dembele highlighted the importance of the conversations he had with QPR’s head coach Martรญ Cifuentes and sporting director Christian Nourry, which convinced him to join the London-based club. “I really felt the โwantโ, which I think is important,” he added.
Reflecting on his previous loan spell at Blackpool, Dembele noted that getting regular game time was crucial for him at that stage of his career. He acknowledged that before joining Blackpool, he hadn’t had many opportunities to play consistently. “That was the most important thing at that stage of my career,” he explained, expressing gratitude towards Blackpool for providing him with that chance. Now, he is eager to build on the experience and success he had last season as he embarks on this new chapter with QPR.
