Everton are expected to start contract negotiations with their star.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Everton are expected to start contract negotiations, according to a recent report from transfer insider Pete O’Rourke. According to rumors, the Toffees are willing to negotiate with the English forward for a new contract that would keep him at Goodison Park until 2025.
This season, Calvert-Lewin has been a reliable finisher for the Toffees in the final third and has scored some crucial goals for them in the Premier League. The English forward has participated in 11 games for the Merseyside team this season in a variety of competitions, recording four goals and one assist.
In the Premier League, the 26-year-old has performed admirably, averaging 1.7 shots and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes. His 52% pass completion rate in the highest division of English football, however, indicates that he lacked talent when connecting plays deep inside the opponent’s half (data via whoscored).
In order to retain him for the long term, Everton will need to sign him to a new contract because his current one at Goodison Park expires in 2025.
Calvert-Lewin has the ability to carve out space for himself and earn a few shots on target. When he is playing at the highest level of this game, he can be a respectable finisher in the final third. The gifted English player needs to work on his link-up play in and around the opponent penalty box, even if he is capable of making some impressive driving runs with the ball.
Calvert-Lewin is still competent enough to start every week for Everton in the Premier League. Nevertheless, he has frequently had his progress at the Merseyside club interrupted by injuries.
None the less, the English forward is still among Sean Dyche’s top choices on the roster. In addition, he is competent enough to keep the Toffees out of the Premier League cellar for the foreseeable future. Therefore, it would be prudent for Everton to retain onto him for the long term, as he may be instrumental in improving the Merseyside club’s situation in the not too distant future.
