Everton contacts Spurs on the restructured Dele deal.
As the former England star gets closer to a highly anticipated comeback to action, Everton has reportedly reached out to Tottenham in an attempt to save Dele Alli’s career, according to the Liverpool Echo and The Mirror.
Manager Sean Dyche made known in September that the Blues intended to rework the conditions of the intricate contract that brought the 27-year-old to Goodison Park in January of last year. Although not much has changed in that regard, Kevin Thelwell, Director of Football, has at least started “background talks” with the North London team.
After sustaining a hip injury while on loan at Besiktas last season and having surgery in the spring, Dele has been sidelined and is still “a long way” from being able to return to the field, according to Dyche’s comments this week.
He appeared to have a chance to revitalize his career when he first joined Everton, coinciding with Frank Lampard’s appointment as manager. However, aside from a crucial substitute performance against Crystal Palace in May 2022, he struggled to make an impression at Goodison Park and has yet to start a Premier League game for the Toffees there.
