Everton had £47.5m Spurs man as one of their ‘key targets.
Johnson signed a six-year contract with Premier League leaders Nottingham Forest and joined Ange Postecoglou’s team on the final day of the summer transfer window for £47.5 million. Johnson is a Welsh international.
The report claims that Johnson, along with Mohammed Kudus, Morgan Gibbs-White and Nicolas Jackson have all been high up on the shopping list of Everton hierarchy, however, issues with finances have been one of the reasons why they have failed to land their targets.
Johnson limped off against Arsenal in the North London derby and missed the subsequent victories over Liverpool and Luton Town, while also not being called up to the Wales squad for their international fixtures.
After the international break, Tottenham fans will be hopeful that Johnson can put his hamstring problems behind him and get healthy in time for the trip to Fulham.
The opportunity for the 22-year-old to try to force his way into Ange Postecoglou’s starting eleven has arisen due to injuries to both Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic, who both face protracted periods on the sidelines.
