For the Blues, this may be one for the future.

According to reports, Everton is vying with two other Premier League teams for the services of a “highly rated” young player, but the Blues have the upper hand to secure a deal.

News about Everton transfers
Although Sean Dyche’s team entered the new season hoping for improvements, they have had another difficult start to the season. Nevertheless, the Toffees’ victory at West Ham on Sunday is a welcome lift.

In terms of acquisitions, Everton made a number of additions during the summer transfer window. Arnaut Danjuma and Jack Harrison joined on loan to provide Dyche further options for attack, while Beto, Chermiti, and Ashley Young all arrived on permanent contracts.

The Blues will be able to sign more players in the January window soon, but their ability to make large purchases may be limited given the current takeover issue with 777 Partners.

The most practical course of action may instead be to bring in players on loan; Kalvin Phillips, a star player for Manchester City, has been linked to Everton. Long-term acquisitions, such as young players who might be major players in the future, might also be considered.

Everton would like James Overy.
Journalist Alan Nixon claims on Patreon [via Goodison News] that Everton is now the front-runner to recruit James Overy from Perth Glory, an A-League team.

Everton is in the lead to recruit a "highly rated" young player.

He claims that the Merseysiders “lead the race” to recruit the 16-year-old, although Leicester City and West Ham are also vying for his services. The right wing-back, who drew the attention of the club’s transfer coordinators, has previously had a trial at Goodison Park and participated in a youth team match as recently as last week.

Although Overy may not be the household name that many Everton fans were hoping to see on Merseyside in January, in the long run, he seems like a steal and may be an exciting addition.
