Everton shuts down Arena tonight.
In the Premier League, Everton’s manager Sean Dyche delivers his assessment following a 1-0 victory away to West Ham.
Everton manager Sean Dyche honored chairman Bill Kenwright, who passed away this week, with a 1-0 victory over West Ham United.
Majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri was present at the game at London Stadium, along with potential owner Josh Wander of 777 Partners. Before kickoff, Dyche and his opposite number, David Moyes—who was appointed by Kenwright in 2002 and managed Everton for 11 years—carried wreaths alongside World Cup winner Sir Geoff Hurst, and there was a minute’s applause for the late chairman and Sir Bobby Charlton.
“I think it’s appropriate after the week we’ve had and the sad loss of the chairman, so that certainly goes out to him and his family,” Dyche stated, adding that she couldn’t promise it. Aside from that, it was really enjoyable. They have demonstrated over the past few seasons and most definitely over the past year that this is a very difficult place to be.
RATINGS: Calvert-Lewin and the Everton defense are excellent against West Ham.
VERDICT: Five players alter everything as Everton sends 777 Partners the ideal message.
“I couldn’t promise it, but I think it’s appropriate after the week we’ve had and the sad loss of the chairman, so that certainly goes out to him and his family,” Dyche said. Apart from that, I had a great time. They’ve shown throughout the last several seasons—and certainly in the last year—that this is an extremely challenging place to be.
RATINGS: Everton’s defense, led by Calvert-Lewin, is outstanding against West Ham.
VERDICT: Everton gives 777 Partners the perfect message as five players change everything.

Other than that, I had a terrific time. This is a really difficult position to be, as they have demonstrated over the past several seasons and most definitely in the past year.

VERDICT: As five players completely transform the game, Everton sends 777 Partners the ideal message.
Everton has now won back-to-back games in London for the first time since May 2021, when they defeated Brentford 3-1 last month. However, because of coronavirus limitations, the games were played in front of empty stadiums. Since he always tries to educate his players how to win in various ways, Dyche thought that the method his team won was also commendable.
“You don’t want to be too greedy, but I don’t think we had as many opportunities as we did in the early part of the season,” he stated. It’s incomprehensible how we didn’t win or draw our first three home games of the season.
It was a different type of show today. We played excellent defense and had our moments.
We played in a really eclectic style, which I really enjoy. I constantly discuss it with them; there are several strategies to win games, so I ask, “Can we work on different strategies to win games?” and we have.
“I felt the defensive side of the game was really intact against Liverpool last week,” Dyche continued. We performed a great job with that, and I’ve been trying to get through to the guys how essential it is because I think we have talent on this team.
“We haven’t put more points on the board this season because of our performances, especially at home in the first three games, which has frustrated me a little, but I’ve been happy with the team’s tenacity in continuing to play well and find solutions.” I believe we’re starting to gel as a team and that gives us a stronger advantage when things don’t go as smoothly as we’d want to during a Premier League season.
“I’ve been in it for a long time, and I know how to win games by finding a way to earn points and emerge victorious from close situations when you’re not playing as well. The people who play well often take care of themselves; I believe that mentality’s foundation is crucial, and it was present.
