The FIA has issued an urgent warning to all Formula 1 teams regarding potentially hazardous weather conditions expected during the British Grand Prix weekend at Silverstone.
According to reports from the FIA’s meteorological team, heavy rain, strong winds, and reduced visibility are forecasted, raising safety concerns for both drivers and teams. The Race Director, Niels Wittich, confirmed that Race Control will be closely monitoring the situation, with the authority to delay, suspend, or modify sessions if conditions deteriorate.
“All teams have been advised to prepare for rapid weather changes, and appropriate wet-weather tyres and strategies should be in place,” said an FIA spokesperson.
The FIA’s official race messaging system has already begun issuing real-time updates, with teams also deploying their own weather units to track storm movements.
This warning comes as teams brace for a critical race in the championship fight, with wet conditions historically playing a major role in strategy, tyre management, and safety.
What this means:
- Practice and Qualifying sessions could be delayed
- Safety Car and standing water procedures may be activated
- Driver visibility and aquaplaning risks are under review
With British weather notoriously unpredictable, the FIA’s early alert is a precaution aimed at ensuring safety while maintaining fair competition.
Stay tuned for live updates throughout the race weekend.
