F1 BREAKING NEWS: FIA CLARIFIES Final Miami GP Results After Post-Race Penalties and Prot…read more

The FIA has officially clarified the final classification of the 2025 Miami Grand Prix following a series of post-race reviews and rulings that affected multiple drivers and teams. While McLaren’s dominant one-two finish made headlines on race day, the aftermath brought drama of its own, with protests, investigations, and penalties shaping the final outcome.

Sainz-Hamilton Clash Reviewed, Warning Issued

One of the most debated moments of the race was a final-lap incident between Williams’ Carlos Sainz and Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton. The pair made contact in a heated scrap for position. After reviewing race footage and data, FIA stewards chose not to penalize Sainz for the incident itself but did issue a formal warning for an unrelated infraction earlier in the race, details of which were not disclosed.

Red Bull Protest Against Russell Rejected

Red Bull Racing filed a formal protest against Mercedes’ George Russell, accusing him of failing to slow appropriately under yellow flags during a Virtual Safety Car period. The team argued Russell may have gained an unfair advantage. However, after a comprehensive analysis of telemetry and onboard footage, the FIA dismissed the protest, confirming that Russell had lifted off the throttle sufficiently. As a result, his third-place finish was upheld.

Gasly Penalized for Parc Fermé Violation

Alpine’s Pierre Gasly faced a setback before lights out when he was found to have breached parc fermé regulations. The penalty forced him to start the race from the pit lane. Parc fermé rules prohibit unauthorized car changes after qualifying, and violations are met with strict penalties to preserve competitive fairness.

McLaren Dominates, Verstappen Falls Behind

While regulatory decisions stirred tension off the track, the race itself was a showcase of McLaren’s 2025 form. Oscar Piastri claimed a commanding win, leading teammate Lando Norris to a clean 1-2 finish. Mercedes’ George Russell completed the podium, while Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who started on pole, dropped to fourth after being overtaken early and unable to recover.

FIA Stresses Transparency and Fairness

The FIA emphasized that its post-race actions were in line with its commitment to fair racing and regulatory integrity. By swiftly addressing incidents and upholding the rules, the governing body ensured a transparent outcome for all competitors.

With the Miami Grand Prix behind them, teams now prepare for the next round of the season, with McLaren surging forward, Mercedes holding steady, and Red Bull looking to regain lost ground in an increasingly unpredictable championship fight.
