Alonso Criticizes FIA Leniency Following Hamilton’s M…read more.
Fernando Alonso has voiced strong criticism of the FIA’s approach to driver conduct following Lewis Hamilton’s emotional radio outburst during the Monaco Grand Prix. The Ferrari driver sparked controversy after expressing intense frustration over race strategy and traffic issues, comments that were broadcast live and drew mixed reactions from fans and commentators.
Despite the widespread attention, the FIA has taken no disciplinary action against Hamilton, a decision that has frustrated several drivers — most notably Alonso. The Aston Martin driver believes the FIA is not doing enough to maintain discipline and fairness on the grid.
“There needs to be consistency in how the rules are applied,” Alonso said in a post-race interview. “We all experience pressure during the race, but when a driver publicly lashes out, especially over the radio, it sets a bad example. If no action is taken, others may feel free to do the same.”
Alonso, who finished just outside the points in Monaco, pointed out that lesser-known drivers have faced penalties for much less. He urged the FIA to reconsider how it handles emotional outbursts and unsportsmanlike behavior, stressing the need to uphold standards for all competitors equally.
The FIA has yet to issue a response to Alonso’s comments. However, the incident has reignited debate within the Formula 1 community about driver accountability and the consistency of race steward decisions. As the season progresses, the pressure will mount for the governing body to take a firmer stance on racing discipline.
