F1 NEWS: FIA Issues Red Bull Protest Verdict as Miami GP Final Order Con…read more

The FIA has officially confirmed the outcome of a late protest filed by Red Bull Racing following the conclusion of the 2025 Miami Grand Prix, solidifying the final race classification after hours of post-race deliberation.

Red Bull had lodged a formal complaint against Mercedes’ George Russell, claiming the British driver failed to adequately slow down under yellow flag conditions during a Virtual Safety Car (VSC) period. The protest, if upheld, had the potential to dramatically alter the race results and podium order.

However, after a detailed examination of telemetry data, onboard footage, and driver inputs, the FIA stewards ruled that Russell had complied with the regulations. According to their analysis, the Mercedes driver sufficiently reduced speed and did not gain an advantage during the VSC phase.

“The data confirms that Car 63 (George Russell) made the required lift in throttle and maintained appropriate delta times throughout the VSC period,” read the FIA’s statement. “Therefore, no breach of Article 55.5 was found, and the protest is dismissed.”

As a result, the final classification from the Miami Grand Prix remains unchanged, with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri officially confirmed as the race winner, followed by teammate Lando Norris in second and George Russell holding third. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who had started on pole, finishes fourth.

The decision brings closure to a tense weekend for Red Bull, who have faced growing competition from both McLaren and Mercedes in recent rounds. Team principal Christian Horner acknowledged the ruling, saying: “We accept the FIA’s decision, though we believed there were grounds to review the situation. Our focus now shifts to Imola.”

With the Miami results finalized, attention turns to the next round of the championship as the battle at the top of the standings contin

ues to tighten.
