Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has made headlines once again with a scathing statement targeting two of the team’s drivers. In a surprising and blunt interview, Marko fired a brutal dig at reserve driver Liam Lawson while also publicly questioning Yuki Tsunoda’s recent performances.
Marko, known for his outspoken and often controversial comments, did not hold back when discussing Lawson’s prospects in Formula 1. “Lawson may have talent, but he hasn’t shown enough to demand a seat,” Marko said. “There’s a difference between potential and delivering under pressure.” The comments have come as a shock to fans who saw Lawson impress during his substitute appearances last season.
The Austrian motorsport figure also turned his attention to Yuki Tsunoda, currently racing for RB (formerly AlphaTauri). “Tsunoda has speed, but his consistency and decision-making are still lacking,” Marko stated. “We need drivers who bring results, not just raw pace.”
The timing of Marko’s remarks has raised eyebrows, as Red Bull evaluates its driver lineup for the upcoming season. With growing speculation around Daniel Ricciardo’s future and Lawson’s push for a full-time seat, the internal politics at Red Bull appear to be heating up.
Fans and pundits alike have been left stunned by the blunt nature of Marko’s words. Whether these comments are strategic pressure or genuine criticism remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the battle for Red Bull seats is as intense as ever.
