Lewis Hamilton Struggles in Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Amid Ferrari Transition
April 23, 2025
Lewis Hamilton’s challenging start to his tenure with Ferrari continued at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, where he finished a disappointing seventh. The seven-time world champion has yet to secure a podium finish this season, raising concerns about his adaptation to the SF-25 and the team’s performance.
Hamilton expressed his discomfort with the car, stating he felt “uncomfortable for the entire race” and described the experience as “horrible” due to persistent understeer and high tire degradation. He acknowledged that while teammate Charles Leclerc managed a third-place finish, showcasing the car’s potential, he has struggled to extract similar performance, highlighting the need to analyze data and align strategies with Leclerc to regain pace.
Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur defended Hamilton amid criticism, emphasizing the team’s commitment to resolving car balance and tire performance issues. Vasseur dismissed sensationalist media narratives and expressed total confidence in Hamilton, stating he is “2,000 per cent behind him” and pledging continued support.
Despite a promising sprint race victory in China, which was later nullified due to disqualification, Hamilton’s performance has faltered after technical adjustments to the car. He remains determined to find solutions and improve results in the upcoming races, with the next opportunity at the Miami Grand Prix on May 4.
