Max Verstappen Edges Closer to Race Ban After S…read more

Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen is now under increased scrutiny after receiving a penalty at the Spanish Grand Prix, pushing him dangerously close to a potential race ban. The three-time world champion was handed a time penalty for exceeding track limits during Sunday’s race in Barcelona. Although the penalty did not drastically affect his final position, it has added valuable penalty points to his super licence — and that’s where the concern lies.

F1 regulations state that if a driver accumulates 12 penalty points on their super licence within a 12-month period, they will receive an automatic one-race ban. Verstappen is now reportedly sitting just a few points away from that threshold, raising alarms within the Red Bull camp and among fans.

The Dutch driver, known for his aggressive yet controlled driving style, has rarely faced such disciplinary trouble. However, recent races have seen an increase in penalties linked to track limits, a rule strictly enforced this season. FIA race stewards have been more vigilant, leading to several drivers, including Verstappen, being penalized for violations.

With the season still having several races left, Verstappen will need to be more cautious to avoid triggering a ban that could seriously impact his championship campaign. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has urged the FIA to be consistent in enforcing the rules, but also emphasized that Verstappen must adapt to avoid further infractions.

F1 fans now watch closely — one more slip, and Verstappen could be watching a race from the sidelines.
