As the Formula 1 paddock turns its focus to the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix, Yuki Tsunoda has weighed in on Max Verstappen’s impressive winning streak at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, while offering insight into Red Bull Racing’s ongoing development.
Verstappen, the reigning world champion, has dominated the Spanish Grand Prix in recent years, claiming victory in the last three editions. His success at the technical circuit has become a symbol of Red Bull’s continued strength. However, with other teams closing the performance gap, questions are rising about whether this dominance will continue.
Tsunoda, currently driving for Red Bull’s sister team RB (formerly AlphaTauri), acknowledged Verstappen’s achievements but emphasized the evolving competition. “Max has been phenomenal in Spain, and it shows how strong Red Bull has been,” Tsunoda said. “But we’re seeing other teams catching up. It will be interesting to see how things unfold this weekend.”
Red Bull has faced increasing pressure from the likes of McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes in recent races, prompting internal evaluations and upgrades to maintain their edge. Tsunoda also highlighted improvements in RB’s own performance, stating that the team has been making progress and learning from Red Bull’s data.
“There’s still a gap, but we’re moving in the right direction,” he noted.
As teams prepare for the high-speed corners and demanding layout of Barcelona, all eyes will be on whether Verstappen can extend his streak—or if the field is finally ready to challenge Red Bull’s supremacy.
