Ferrari has downplayed any concerns regarding Lewis Hamilton’s recent string of impressive results, with team officials stressing that their focus remains on their own performance and development, rather than the success of rival teams. Despite Mercedes’ resurgence, highlighted by Hamilton’s strong finishes in the past few races, Ferrari maintains a confident approach and continues to target improvements within their own team.
In recent Grand Prix events, Hamilton’s performance has shown a marked uptick, prompting speculation that Mercedes may be closing the gap to the front-runners. His driving precision, combined with the noticeable progress of Mercedes’ car, has once again positioned Hamilton as one of the drivers to watch in the ongoing season. However, Ferrari insists that these developments do not create any additional pressure.
“We are concentrating on ourselves,” said a Ferrari team spokesperson. “Our primary objective remains the continuous refinement of our car and our race strategy. We know the challenges that lie ahead and we are committed to staying focused on our own goals. While we respect Hamilton’s skill and Mercedes’ potential, we do not believe that any other team’s recent form should shift our approach.”
Ferrari has faced its own challenges this season, grappling with the competitive nature of the grid and the ongoing pursuit of better race performance. The Italian team has acknowledged areas in which they need to improve, from car handling to maximizing strategy during races. These challenges have been underlined by inconsistent results throughout the year, but the team is steadfast in their belief that they can turn the tide.
As for Hamilton, the seven-time world champion has demonstrated his remarkable ability to extract the maximum potential from his car, even when the team’s performance might not necessarily offer the best prospects. Hamilton’s recent performances, including podium finishes and close battles with the top teams, have reignited hopes of a Mercedes comeback as they aim to return to their championship-winning ways.
Ferrari, however, is fully committed to their path, with emphasis placed on further developing their current car and fine-tuning it for the upcoming race weekends. Team principal Fred Vasseur reiterated that Ferrari’s focus is not on individual drivers or teams, but on optimizing the performance of their own package to ensure that they can compete at the front of the grid.
“Everyone in the team knows what we need to do,” Vasseur added. “We are focusing on progress — every session, every race, is an opportunity for us to improve. Competing in this sport requires long-term commitment, and we are in it for the long haul, so we won’t be distracted by the performance of others.”
With several races left in the season, the dynamics of the championship could continue to evolve, but Ferrari is steadfast in their belief that a focus on their own developments, rather than external competition, will be key to improving their position in the constructors’ standings and fighting for podiums in future Grand Prix.
