Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has suggested that Max Verstappen may have played a role in the team missing out on victory at the 2025 Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix. The reigning world champion, who has been dominant throughout the season, faced unexpected challenges during the race, which saw Red Bull struggle to secure the top spot.

Verstappen, who started from pole position, was engaged in a fierce battle with rival teams, including Mercedes and Ferrari. However, a crucial strategic decision or an on-track incident might have cost Red Bull the win. Marko hinted that certain choices made by Verstappen may not have been ideal, leading to the team’s inability to capitalize on their strong performance.

“We had the pace to fight for the victory, but some decisions during the race didn’t go in our favor,” Marko told reporters after the race. “It’s something we need to analyze, but we definitely had the potential to win.”

While Marko did not directly blame Verstappen, his comments suggest that the Dutch driver’s actions could have influenced the outcome. Red Bull has been a dominant force in recent seasons, but competition in 2025 has been tighter than ever, making every decision on track crucial.

Despite missing out on victory, Verstappen still finished on the podium, keeping his championship hopes strong. With the season far from over, Red Bull will be keen to bounce back in the upcoming races and reclaim their winning momentum.
