Liam Lawson, the rising star in Formula 1, has spoken out following recent speculation about his future with Red Bull Racing. The young New Zealander has been at the center of discussions about a potential seat with the top-tier team after impressing in several substitute appearances for AlphaTauri, Red Bull’s sister outfit. Lawson stepped in for Daniel Ricciardo after the Australian sustained a hand injury, and his consistent performances have drawn praise from both fans and the F1 paddock.
Rumors of a promotion intensified after Lawson’s solid showings against established drivers like Yuki Tsunoda. However, with Ricciardo expected to return to AlphaTauri, questions have arisen about Lawson’s next move. Speaking to the media, Lawson expressed gratitude for the opportunities he’s had but remained cautious about his prospects. “I’ve done everything I can to prove myself, but ultimately, the decision is out of my hands,” he said. “I’ll keep pushing and wait to see what happens next.”
Red Bull’s management, known for its highly competitive driver selection process, has yet to announce its final lineup for the upcoming season. While team principal Christian Horner and advisor Helmut Marko have praised Lawson, they’ve also emphasized Ricciardo’s experience and Tsunoda’s development.
Lawson, who continues to compete in Super Formula in Japan, says he remains focused on improving as a driver. “My job is to stay ready. In Formula 1, things can change very quickly,” he added.
