F1 NEWS:Verstappen Voices Concerns Over Red Bull’s Performance Amid Intense Norris B…read more
Max Verstappen, the current Formula 1 World Champion, has expressed concerns about his Red Bull’s performance following an aggressive battle with McLaren’s Lando Norris at the Japanese Grand Prix.
The two championship contenders set the stage for an exciting showdown as they positioned their cars at the front of the grid in Suzuka. Both drivers had a clean start, with Verstappen maintaining his lead ahead of Norris and Oscar Piastri. However, shortly after the race began, Verstappen reported an issue with his car’s upshifts over the team radio, saying, “My upshifts feel really bad.”
While Verstappen navigated the race with his concerns, Norris, who also started without any issues, found himself in a battle with his teammate Piastri. Norris, currently leading the drivers’ standings by just eight points over Verstappen, is eyeing his sixth career win if Verstappen’s fears about his car’s performance materialize.
Seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton made a strong start, moving up to seventh after passing Racing Bull’s Isack Hadjar. However, Hamilton’s position in the race is still far behind his teammate Charles Leclerc, who started from fourth. Any mistakes from Norris or Piastri could offer Leclerc the chance to recover some of the valuable points he lost after his disqualification at the Chinese Grand Prix.
Mercedes, sitting comfortably behind McLaren in the constructors’ standings, had both George Russell and Kimi Antonelli placed between the two Ferraris early in the race. Although Antonelli ran wide at the final chicane, he managed to keep his position.
With rain expected to play a role in the race’s outcome, Verstappen could be eyeing a fourth consecutive victory at Suzuka, further solidifying his dominance on the track. The Dutch driver has been battling reliability issues with his Red Bull throughout the season, but with his consistent performance, he remains a strong contender for another win.
As the race unfolds, all eyes will be on Verstappen to see if he can overcome his car troubles and fend off his competitors, including Norris, who is hoping to extend his lead in the championship standings.
