Mick Schumacher has responded to speculation linking him to a potential Formula 1 seat with the Cadillac-backed Andretti team, following confirmation of their official entry into the sport. The German driver, currently a Mercedes reserve, has been frequently mentioned as a candidate for a return to the F1 grid.
Cadillac and Andretti received approval from the FIA to join Formula 1, but their entry faced resistance from existing teams. However, recent developments suggest that Cadillac is moving forward with plans for a 2026 debut, reigniting discussions about their driver lineup. With Schumacher’s experience and marketability, he remains a strong contender.
When asked about the rumors, Schumacher acknowledged his interest in returning to F1 but remained noncommittal about any specific deal. “I am always looking at opportunities, and Formula 1 is where I want to be,” he said. “Right now, I’m focused on my role with Mercedes, but the future is always open.”
Schumacher previously raced for Haas in 2021 and 2022 before losing his seat. Since then, he has worked as a reserve driver for Mercedes and competed in endurance racing. His potential move to Cadillac F1 would mark a fresh start, particularly with the backing of a major manufacturer like General Motors.
While nothing is confirmed, Schumacher’s name remains at the center of Cadillac’s driver discussions. With the team’s entry officially secured, more clarity on their lineup is expected in the coming months.
