F1 SHOCK: Christian Horner Officially Removed from All Red Bull Leadership Roles

Just one month after his dramatic dismissal as Red Bull Racing team principal, Christian Horner’s connection to the Formula 1 powerhouse has been severed even further. According to fresh filings with the UK’s Companies House, Horner has now been formally removed as a director from four key entities under the Red Bull umbrella — Red Bull Racing, Red Bull Technology, Red Bull Powertrains, and Red Bull Powertrains 2026.

The updated corporate records, made public this week, mark the official end of Horner’s two-decade-long executive presence within the organisation. This move comes on the heels of a turbulent period for the reigning Constructors’ Champions, whose dominant run in recent seasons has been overshadowed by internal controversies and leadership instability.

Horner’s departure as team principal last month was already one of the most significant shake-ups in modern Formula 1 history. His exit followed weeks of mounting speculation, fuelled by internal investigations, board-level discussions, and intense media scrutiny. While the team never provided detailed reasons for his removal, the decision was confirmed in a brief statement at the time, citing the need for “a change in leadership to safeguard the team’s continued success.”

Now, the removal from his directorship positions suggests a complete break from the operational and strategic framework of Red Bull’s Formula 1 projects. These roles were far from ceremonial — as a director across the four entities, Horner held influence not only over the F1 team’s day-to-day management but also over the technical and power unit divisions that will shape Red Bull’s future, especially with the major 2026 engine regulation changes on the horizon.

The most notable among these, Red Bull Powertrains 2026, is the in-house engine programme being developed in partnership with Ford. This project is central to Red Bull’s long-term competitiveness, as the team transitions to building its own power units rather than relying on an external supplier. Horner’s removal from its directorship signals that the team’s leadership restructuring extends beyond just the racing operations and into the core of its technological ambitions.

In the wake of his departure, Red Bull has not yet announced a permanent replacement for the team principal role. For now, interim leadership is in place, while the team navigates the critical mid-season phase of the championship. The vacuum left by Horner — who had been in charge since Red Bull’s F1 entry in 2005 — will be keenly felt, not least because of his close relationships with senior figures, sponsors, and the drivers themselves.

Reactions across the paddock have been mixed. Some view the move as a necessary fresh start after months of off-track distractions, while others argue that removing a figure so central to Red Bull’s rise could risk destabilising the team. Horner was widely credited with building the operation into a multi-title-winning juggernaut, overseeing the Sebastian Vettel era of dominance from 2010–2013 and the current Max Verstappen-led streak since 2021.

As the dust settles, one thing is clear: the Christian Horner era at Red Bull is now officially over in both sporting and corporate terms. What remains to be seen is whether the team can maintain its on-track supremacy without the man who has been at its helm for almost 20 years — or if this marks the beginning of a new, uncertain chapter in the team’s history.
