Fears for Liverpool increase as a report suggests a “giant offer” will be made to a key player.
According to reports, Mohamed Salah will receive a “giant offer” to join the Saudi Pro League.
At the conclusion of the summer transfer window, Liverpool turned down a verbal offer of £150 million from Al-Hilal.
After collapsing from their quadruple attempt in 2022 to a fifth-place Premier League finish and no trophies in 2023, the club and Salah demonstrated their dedication to rising to the top of the European game.
But as Salah’s contract is about to expire once more, supporters are beginning to worry that he might be traded at the end of the campaign in order to avoid losing him for nothing in 2025 when his terms run out.
The most recent update on Salah’s future provided by journalist Ben Jacobs hasn’t done much to calm these worries.
“Saudi Arabia will make Mohamed Salah a very big offer for 2024.”
Ben Jacobs, in an interview with Give Me Sport, claims that Salah will get a huge offer to join the Saudi Pro League, something Liverpool is “prepared for.”
“Liverpool would love for Salah to extend his contract, but in 2024, he will have plenty of options,” he stated.
“We are aware that Saudi Arabia will reappear. Let me start by saying that. Because Saudi Arabian clubs tend to change a lot, it could be either Al-Ittihad or Al Hilal.
We already know that Salah will receive a sizable offer from Saudi Arabia for 2024. Liverpool is equipped to handle that. However, Liverpool will also not stand by and allow a top player to walk away if they believe there’s a chance he might stay on a little bit longer.
“If Salah were to work with Liverpool, it would be very specific and could involve a contract that would allow him to sign and still be able to leave, or it could involve a contract that would allow him to sign and have a way for him to speak with other clubs.”
Salah is someone that Liverpool needs to hold onto no matter what.
It is common knowledge that Fenway Sports Group (FSG), the owners of Liverpool, does not offer players ridiculous contracts in an attempt to entice them to sign.
All due respect aside, Salah’s skill set is fairly ludicrous, so Liverpool should make every effort to retain him on staff.
The right winger is not prone to injuries like other players his age are, and he hasn’t shown much that would indicate he’s slowing down either.
Salah, who is 31 years old, looks like he could play at a world-class level for three or four more years.
For instance, despite not playing as a striker, he is only three goals behind Erling Haaland this season with 10 goals and 4 assists.
Here are some Sofascore screenshots comparing Salah and Haaland’s 2023–24 season heatmaps for non-Liverpool supporters.
No other striker in world football has a heatmap as impressive as Salah’s.
Additionally, Liverpool hopes to retain Jurgen Klopp after his current contract expires in June 2026.
I hope the team considers giving Salah a contract that runs through 2026.
Naturally, that would mean the tragic loss of two of the most significant individuals in recent Liverpool history at the same time.
However, most fans would accept it if it meant Salah would remain for an additional year.
