FIA name Verstappen team-mate for 2025 in official release
The FIA has released the official 2025 Formula 1 entry list, confirming driver lineups and car numbers for next season.
Red Bull’s pairing includes reigning four-time world champion Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, despite ongoing speculation about Perez’s future with the team following a disappointing 2024 season.
Perez, whose performances contributed to Red Bull finishing third in the constructors’ standings, faced a string of poor results, including a DNF in the Abu Dhabi season finale.
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner had previously stated that discussions about Perez’s future would take place after the season, casting doubt on his retention.
However, the entry list, based on current contracts, still lists Perez alongside Verstappen for 2025.
The Mexican driver remains under contract with Red Bull until 2026.
It is important to note that the FIA’s list is provisional and could change before the season opener at the Australian Grand Prix in March 2025.
Speculation remains high that Liam Lawson, currently part of Red Bull’s junior program, might replace Perez.
Reports suggest Lawson could move up from AlphaTauri, leaving the junior team with an unconfirmed second driver alongside Yuki Tsunoda, whose 2025 contract is already secured.
The list reflects this uncertainty, naming Tsunoda’s teammate as “TBC” (to be confirmed).
The 2025 entry list highlights the current contractual landscape but may not fully represent the grid at the start of next season.
Perez’s inclusion, while aligning with his existing deal, does little to quell rumors of an impending lineup shuffle within Red Bull Racing.
Fans and analysts alike will continue to monitor developments closely as teams finalize their rosters in the lead-up to the new season.
