Rodri’s absence contributed to Manchester City’s loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, according to Pep Guardiola.

After receiving a straight red card during a recent 2-0 victory against Nottingham Forest in September, the 27-year-old completed the third and final game of his three-game suspension on Sunday.

Man City have really suffered their first three losses of the season to Newcastle United, Wolves, and Arsenal in the Carabao Cup and the Premier League, respectively, without their talismanic holding midfielder in their last three domestic games.

The most detrimental of the three losses in short succession came in the Premier League against Arsenal, and as a result, City fell to third place in the standings going into the break.

After the game, manager Guardiola said that Rodri’s absence contributed to the team’s defeat: “Rodri is an important player but he is not there for the reason everyone knows and we have to move forward.” Each game is absolutely unique.

“We cannot dispute the fact that we have lost three straight games without Rodri. However, despite the fact that we placed more people in charge of passes, Arsenal is aggressive in these areas. We’ll return and continue then. We’ll go as planned.
