Following Everton’s divisive remarks, the director of 777 Partners clarifies himself.
777 Partners Global Sporting Director Johannes Spors has clarified that, contrary to what he recently said, Everton will not use other clubs in their network as feeder teams.
That’s according to BILD, who report on his remarks from today and Benjamin Weber, the sporting director of Hertha Berlin, who has stated that’s not how he’ll be doing things.
Although 777 Partners and Farhad Moshiri reached an agreement earlier this year to purchase Everton, the move is still pending Premier League approval.
If accepted, Everton will join a network of teams owned by the American firm, which already includes Hertha BSC, Genoa, Standard Liege, Red Star, and CR Vasco de Gama.
None of the other clubs took kindly to that, especially Hertha Berlin, whose supporters are already opposed to the ownership.
They don’t want to watch their team turn into an Everton “farm team,” although Spors has now clarified his stance in an interview with Kicker.
He is cited as saying, “We don’t force transfers; the clubs do very independent squad planning.”
“But we try to implement a transfer if the need is there, but it’s always about the individual career paths of the players.”
It’s unclear if he is reacting to the backlash to his first assertions or something else, but BILD was informed by Hertha’s sporting director Benjamin Weber that the notion would face strong resistance.
“We don’t have to worry about our talents, and Herza BSC isn’t a farm team,” he stated.
“There is good, productive, and intentional discussion going on with 777 Partners and its clubs. Significant synergies are produced.
We really benefit from the trusting and cooperative collaboration and interchange that occurs in the domains of analysis, performance, and player development in addition to data evaluation.
In “plain language,” according to BILD, it means there won’t be the easy flow of players to Everton that Spors seemed to hint there would be this week; instead, a transfer would only occur if the player wants it or if he could “improve athletically” before ending up elsewhere.
