Soon after the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25–22 in overtime in Super Bowl LVIII, defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo of the Chiefs had high praise for quarterback Brock Purdy.

David Bonilla of 49ers Webzone reports that Spagnuolo said on the most recent “The Season with Peter Schrager” podcast that he got in touch with Purdy after what turned out to be an exciting championship game.

Spagnuolo said, “I just texted Brock the other day.” “I made an effort to locate his mobile number. I wanted to express my admiration for him and what an amazing game he played. I like everything about him—he’s a strong Christian man of great character, and I’m glad for all of his accomplishments.”

In Super Bowl LVIII, Purdy completed 23 of 38 passes for 255 yards and one touchdown against Spagnuolo’s defence.

Although Spagnuolo, 24, probably wishes he could have made a few of the throws he missed in the game, he stated he believes the final choice in the 2022 NFL Draft is “terrific.”

Spagnuolo also mentioned how Purdy’s postseason victories over the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions were captured on game tape, which the coach used to persuade him that the second-year player is more than just a “game manager” who is helped to wins by explosive players.

According to Taylor Wirth of NBC Sports Bay Area, Spagnuolo said, “The other thing that stuck out was, we played Tua [Tagovailoa], we played Josh Allen, we played Lamar Jackson (during the playoffs), and you’ve got to worry about those guys always running the football.” “San Francisco will be our next stop; we haven’t watched them much, so I don’t really know them. “Okay, maybe (Purdy’s) not a runner, maybe we can get a little break here,” is what’s going through our minds. I switch on the movie, and

Purdy only gained 12 yards on the ground in the Chiefs game, but he also helped the team win with a field goal in overtime if San Francisco’s defence had stopped Kansas City star quarterback Patrick Mahomes on a fourth-and-one play.
