May quickly made highly-rated recruit Trey McKenney a top priority.
Dusty May, upon his formal introduction as Michigan’s new basketball coach on Tuesday, hadn’t finalized his recruiting plans. However, it was evident that securing Orchard Lake St. Mary’s five-star forward Trey McKenney was a top priority. This became apparent when May contacted McKenney’s father on Monday evening.
“It seemed like something he knew he needed to prioritize from the start,” remarked John McKenney to The Michigan Insider. “And it was almost as if he had been advised by a few people, ‘don’t contact Trey directly, contact his father first’… and I appreciate that. As a parent, you want them to reach out to you initially, rather than your child.”
