FOREVER IN OUR HEART: Till we meet to depart no more yankees player has gone……
In New York, Zack Gelof’s two-run homer off Victor González in the ninth inning propelled the Oakland Athletics to a 2-0 victory over the Yankees on Monday, halting the Athletics’ eight-game losing streak in the Bronx. The win came after New York manager Aaron Boone was ejected just five pitches into the game.
Carlos Rodón for New York and JP Sears for Oakland both delivered shutout performances, keeping the game scoreless until the ninth inning. Abraham Toro reached base off González leading off the ninth after the pitcher slipped while fielding Toro’s dribbler.
Gelof then connected on a flat sinker, sending the ball into the right-field seats for his third home run of the season.
Lucas Erceg earned the win by pitching two innings, while Mason Miller secured the save by striking out Anthony Volpe, Juan Soto, and Aaron Judge in the ninth inning. The Athletics’ pitchers held the Yankees to just three hits, marking the fourth shutout against the Yankees in 23 games this season.
The victory was significant for Oakland, which had not won at Yankee Stadium since 2021.
Aaron Judge struggled at the plate, going 0 for 4 with two strikeouts and hitting into a double play, lowering his season average to .174.
