Trent Brown’s signing on Tuesday made the offensive tackle position for the Cincinnati Bengals look incredibly big.

With the New England Patriots for the past two seasons, the 6-foot-8, 360-pound monster may have played some of his greatest football to yet. The Bengals are hoping he can keep Joe Burrow upright and in the lineup until the 2024 season by carrying on that run in Cincinnati.

Jonah Williams, the Bengals’ 2019 first-round selection, inked a two-year, $30 million contract with the Cardinals. Brown was signed to replace Williams. Although Brown’s deal number is unknown at this time, it is expected to be far less than Jonah Williams’ average salary of $15 million.

That being said, Brown has outperformed Williams in a number of areas over the past two seasons, flourishing on a New England island that is ideal for the Bengals’ drop-back passing game. Brown’s age and history of injuries are the main areas of concern. He has lost a significant amount of time due to injuries over his career, so the Bengals will need to hope that he stays healthy.

Additionally, since the contract is only for one year, the Bengals still have choices at No. 18. The Bengals may still need to pick an overtime at number eighteen because the deal is only for one year and he has had injury issues. But since they have someone signed for a single year, they can choose to grab real BPA with pick 18.
