GOODNEWS:How 2024 NFL Draft’s Loss is Ohio State’s Gain.
Although the nation’s top college football schools are accustomed to seeing their best players sign early contracts with the NFL, Ohio State supporters have recently been treated to a number of enjoyable surprises. Before the deadline of next week, a huge list of outstanding underclassmen Buckeyes were anticipated to declare early for the 2024 NFL Draft; but, during the past several days, that list has significantly decreased.
The rest of OSU’s top prospects have chosen to stay, although standout wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. (who is ranked as the best overall prospect in this year’s class) and defensive tackle Michael Hall Jr. did announce their plans to go early.
The following players have made the decision to return to school for the 2024 campaign: defensive lineman Tyleik Williams, offensive lineman Donovan Jackson, cornerback Denzel Burke, wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, running back TreVeyon Henderson, edge defender JT Tuimoloau, and cornerback.
Athletics At his position, Henderson was perhaps the best talent in the class; Burke, Tuimoloau, and Egbuka, on the other hand, probably would have been selected in the top 50. Jackson, Williams, and Sawyer might have all been selected on the second round as well. Rather, all of them are returning for an additional year. These omissions from this year’s draft class will affect their respective position groups and significantly reduce the pool of talent available for a single program. However, the significance on the field for the Buckeyes as they get ready for the upcoming campaign cannot be emphasized.
The Buckeyes are set to have a roster full of talent and experience after a disappointing end to the season that included two losses—one in the Cotton Bowl, where they scored just three points against Missouri, and another against rival Michigan, which eliminated them from the running for the Big 12 championship.
