We have upgraded the commentary system that blind and visually impaired spectators utilize at John Smith’s Stadium as part of our commitment to enhancing accessibility for all of our supporters.

The enhanced systems are compact and unobtrusive, suitable for usage by both home and away fans, and can be pre-ordered and picked up from the stadium’s main office on game day. They also work with the majority of headphones.

Supporters who are visually impaired can enjoy every minute of the game from kickoff till the final whistle thanks to live match commentary provided by the local hospital radio station during the game!

Dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment at the Club, Town has been enhancing the matchday experience for female fans.

In honor of International Women’s Day and ahead of our yearly Terriers Together match on Sunday, the Club is happy to highlight recent enhancements made to improve our game day experience for female supporters.

Town just became a member of the Breastfeeding Network’s Breastfeeding Friendly Scheme, which helps families feel comfortable and confident while nursing.

While a mother can nurse her kid anywhere in public, the Club understands that some women might feel more at ease in a designated area. The Legends Café Bar, which is situated between the Terriers Together Stand and the Core, is now open for breastfeeding on home match days from noon until 5.30pm (kick-off is at 3pm), and from 5pm to 10pm for evening games.

If necessary, supporters can contact supporterservices@htafc.com to get a seasonal pass that grants them entrance from the stand inside Legends Café Bar. Alternatively, they can get in touch with the closest steward on game day.

In addition to having a special area reserved for moms, the Legends Café Bar offers free baby changing supplies, baby changing facilities, and staff members who can assist with heating formula bottles if needed.

In addition to this initiative, Town has been offering free period products in all female restrooms and accessible restrooms around the stadium since 2017. Additionally, posters with QR codes have been placed throughout the stadium to allow supporters to anonymously share their match day experiences.

In 2018, we also started sponsoring the Women at the Game tickets program, which seeks to provide women with an encouraging atmosphere for their first live football experience. Additionally, the Club joined forces with Her Game Too in 2021 to assist foster a more welcoming environment for female football fans and to increase awareness of sexist abuse in the sport.

In an effort to help people who travel on foot in Huddersfield, day or night, choose safer routes home and share these with friends and family to guarantee their safety, Town and West Yorkshire Police have more recently partnered with the WalkSafe app.

Our Chairman, Kevin Nagle, also had one-on-one meetings with Women’s+ Network members while he was in West Yorkshire to hear firsthand about their experiences at the John Smith’s and how we, as a Club, can keep making improvements to this.

Our work at Terriers Together is centered around female inclusion, and we want every fan to have a warm and inviting experience when they come to John Smith’s Stadium.
