Hamilton and Verstappen Clash as Leclerc Denied…read more

In a thrilling conclusion to the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix qualifying session, McLaren’s Lando Norris secured pole position with a record-breaking lap, denying Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc a home pole. Norris clocked a 1:09.954, edging out Leclerc by just 0.109 seconds.

The session was not without controversy. Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen were involved in an incident during Q1, where Hamilton was investigated for allegedly impeding Verstappen. Verstappen described the situation as “massive impeding,” and the stewards are reviewing the matter.

Hamilton, who had earlier crashed during final practice, managed to recover and qualify fourth. Verstappen secured the fifth spot on the grid.

Mercedes faced a challenging session, with rookie Kimi Antonelli crashing in Q1 and George Russell’s car failing in Q2, leaving them 15th and 14th on the grid, respectively.

The Monaco Grand Prix is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM local time on Sunday, May 25. With overtaking notoriously difficult on the narrow street circuit, qualifying positions will be crucial for race day success.
