His impact on Kansas City Chiefs clear as he’s named favou…..
Following his departure, three-time Super Bowl champion and former Kansas City Chiefs tight end Jody Fortson declared Travis Kelce to be his all-time favorite teammate.
After five years and three Super Bowls with the Chiefs, where he was Kelce’s backup, Fortson moved on to join the Miami Dolphins. When questioned about playing with the NFL superstar, Fortson, who hasn’t had much playing time, couldn’t contain his happiness.
In his first news conference, Fortson said, “My all-time favorite teammate is Travis Kelce.” Whether we’re talking about Pop Warner, High School, or College, Travis is my best buddy. Not only did he take his time to try to teach me how to be the tight end, but he didn’t even have to because he is such a wonderful person.
“He simply demonstrated his unwavering love and expertise for the game. Being with Kelce in a room probably set me back four light years from where I would have been if I hadn’t had him.
“He is arguably the greatest of all-time, and having him in that room, being able to learn and see how he’s attacking different routes and why he views coverage like this and why he sees well, how he’s able to find the holes and other stuff like you’re not able to get that unless you’re with somebody that knows that.”
While Kelce – who is dating pop singer Taylor Swift – is far from a quiet guy, he has confessed that he does not like to be a vocal leader and says very little in preparations for games, leaving that position to the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. However, Fortson claimed that when he talks, his presence demands the attention of the room, with him making the time to support his back-up’s progress and improve.
“So, being in a room with Kelce these last few years has been an extraordinary blessing to my game,” added Fortson. “Using my patience in the game, I used to speed my routes and other things, but even when I went to Kelce’s place, I was like, ‘Hey, man, you can calm down.
