Arsenal told to complete Ollie Watkins transfer amid major Gabriel Jesus admission

Former Arsenal goalkeeper legend David Seaman has suggested that his old team should consider pursuing Aston Villa and England forward Ollie Watkins in the upcoming January transfer window.

The 27-year-old has been in stellar form for Aston Villa this season, netting 13 goals and providing eight assists in 23 appearances across various competitions, proving to be instrumental under manager Unai Emery.

In contrast, Arsenal’s striking options currently consist of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah. Jesus has scored six goals in 16 games this season, while Nketiah has five goals in 21 matches. This has raised doubts about whether either player possesses the necessary prolificacy to propel Arsenal towards a Premier League title challenge.

Speaking on his podcast, Seaman, a three-time league champion with Arsenal, expressed his belief that acquiring Watkins would be a beneficial move for his former club in January.

“Bringing in Watkins would be a good decision,” Seaman stated. “He’s a classic box striker, less involved in the build-up play, which I prefer. Sometimes I see Jesus drifting too far out wide, and I think, ‘No, get back into the middle!’ It’s a topic on everyone’s lips – bolstering the team with a new striker.”

Watkins’ contributions this season have included crucial goals, including match-winners against Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. His standout performance came in September’s 6-1 victory over Brighton, where he netted a hat-trick and provided an assist.
