Huddersfield Town assessment after latest frustration ‘If we want to stay in the league’

After their goalless draw against Rotherham United,

Huddersfield Town defender Radinio Balker admits that his team needs to do better offensively.

The Championship’s leakiest defense managed just its fourth clean sheet of the year on Saturday as the Terriers were unable to overcome their bottom-of-the-table opponents at New York Stadium.

Balker was disappointed with the draw at half time even though Town had achieved their first clean sheet in six games and their seventh of the season, but they were unable to end the impasse.

The defender said to BBC Radio Leeds, “I feel like if we want to stay in [the league], we have to win against the team that’s in last place.”

“Obviously, we expected to do better than what we accomplished today, but we weren’t expecting it because you can’t expect.”

“It’s disheartening; everyone felt let down.” In addition, we lost a man, so although I’m happy we only maintained zero points, we should just make the most of our opportunities the next time.

We made several attempts at the final pass, but it wasn’t good enough. It is what we must improve upon.

We need to improve as an offense, but at least our defense didn’t give up any points.

Sorba Thomas was sent off for two yellow cards in rapid succession just before the hour mark, which severely hurt the Terriers’ hopes of winning.

The winger was given a second yellow for taking down an opponent during a counterattack after the first appeared to be for dissent for challenging a decision made against him.

“I didn’t think he was kicking him, and I didn’t really see it back,” Balker continued. “He was just trying to get the ball.”

He was merely attempting to catch the ball. That’s what I think, but I haven’t seen it back yet; after I do, I might think differently.

I believed the same thing during the game—that he was merely attempting to defend.
